Our Mission/Vision

Evidence & Research Data: (Myers, 2022)

  • Five Thousand (5,000) adolescents complete suicide each year in the United States; approximately 12-15 a day

  • Fifty Thousand (50,000.00) adults complete suicide each year in the United States; approximately 130 per day.

  • For every adolescent that completes suicide, there are approximately 15-20 more that think/consider suicide as a real option

  • In 2020, there were an estimated 1.2 million suicide attempts

  • Males are more than three times likely to complete suicide in the United States. Since covid, more and more females are engaging in self harm practices like cutting and burning

EVIDENCE & RESEARCH Based Data:

  • Thoughts->Feelings->Mood->Behavior

  • Thoughts are VISITORS; VISITORS stay short-term (acute), or Long-Term (chronic)

  • We can SHAPE and REGULATE our thoughts

  • People are making life-changing decisions based on VISITORS

  • What people need is information/education

  • What people need is compassion/understanding/relatability/vulnerability/emotional agility

Love is the Answer Song…

  • Emotional Safety=Creating a Climate and Culture where being accepted and embraced for who you truly are and what you feel and need.

  • Psychological safety is a share belief held by members of a family, group, or team that it’s OK to take risks, to express their ideas and concerns, to speak up with questions, and to admit mistakes – all without fear of negative consequences.

  • Emotional Distress is felt acutely and/or chronically emotionally, because an unsafe climate and culture cultivates intense psychological distress and often leads to a greater need for isolation; thus, more difficulty in reaching out.

Support systems will make it psychologically and emotionally safe to ask for help.

PSYKED Vision: To continue our fore-stated mission; then, bring a Psychologically based curriculum to middle-school students that emphasizes awareness of how the autonomic nervous system (Sympathetic & Para-sympathetic) deploys/regulates anxiety (somatic and cognitive).
